We are looking for a graduate level Electrical or Mechanical Engineer (or similar) willing to train as a Patent Attorney.
Qualifications/ Attributes of the Ideal Candidate:
- Superior academic qualifications, preferably PhD in the relevant discipline of Engineering (final year students will be considered)
- Excellent command of the English Language, both verbal and written
- Highly self-motivated wth genuine interest in learning and using new technologies
- Ability to assimilate and analyse complex information quickly
- Works well individually and in a team environment
- Foreign language skills a bonus
- Engineering or IP Australia experience advantageous
- Current entitlement to work in Australia is essential
The Trainee Patent Attorney role:
You would be working under the direct supervision of one or more Partners and be involved in all aspects of a Patent Attorney practice. This includes:
- liaising with inventors/clients, including Startups, Corporates and Academics
- drafting patent specifications
- conducting searches of IP records
- providing patentability, validity and infringement advice
- prosecuting patent applications before the Patent Offices
