The initial term of a New Zealand Trade Mark registration is seven (7) years from
the application filing date or any priority date that is claimed. The registration
is then renewable for fourteen (14) year periods.
A renewal application should be made within the last twelve (12) months of the
registration term. If the renewal fee is not paid by the expiry date, then renewal
may be effected upon payment of penalty fees, within one month of official advertisement
of the non-payment of the fee.
A Trade Mark which has been removed from the register for non-payment may be restored
at the discretion of the Commissioner of Trade Marks, upon special application and payment
of a fee. |
