Patrick has a Bachelor of Engineering (Elect) and a Master
of Laws, the subject of his thesis being protection of computer
software under patent and copyright law. Patrick takes an
active interest in the development of IP law. He has extensive
experience in running corporate IP departments and negotiating
international technology transfers and licences. He has
also participated in the establishment and running of a
Co-Operative Research Centre. He has worked as a consultant
to Freehills Patent Attorneys and as an innovation consultant
for telecommunication start-up companies. Patrick has broad
experience in the telecommunications, electronics, IT and
mechanical fields. He has developed IP harvesting and management
strategies and strategies for fostering invention and innovation.
Patrick is an enthusiastic supporter local R&D and manufacture
as a cornerstone of Australia's economic future.
Patrick's relaxations include bushwalking, photography,
jogging, wassailing and pontificating.
Personal philosophy: life is too short to drink white wine.
